Douglas White Shines in Mirren’s Live Pitch Competition

Marcelle uncovered this little nugget today.

Last April, she attended the Mirren New Business Conference with our own Douglas White. He volunteered to compete in what's now "the most talked about element of last year's conference": the Live Pitch Competition. Ultimately, he impressed the crowd and reigned victorious. Check out some of the highlights below.

Chugga-Chugga-Chugga-Chugga… WOO-WOO!

It's been awhile since we came down off of our Settlers of Catan kick. But apparently new talent means new board games at MindComet!

We're happy to have added Carney to our IS team within the past few months. Not only because of his strikingly good looks, but also because of his taste in board games (he's talented too, guess I should mention that, right?). He also doesn't understand why we don't get Groundhog Day off. He's just that kind of guy. Below is the only photo of him known to man.

Anyway, today, he introduced a us to a new, still German, board game. I learned today that, apparently, Germans are fascinated by our fancy American train system. Hence the creation of "Ticket to Ride".

To oversimplify it, you basically do your best to expand your railroad across the US, completing trips and earning points along the way. My description doesn't do it justice - it was quite fun. Learn more about it over at BoardGameGeek.

Carney took the inaugural game - with force. Apparently having played a game before gives one a distinct edge. I wonder if it's like that in Baseball and Football too? Hmm...

I'm hoping this will catch on... TrainCar Tuesdays or RailRoad Thursday... anyone?

The Pepto Priestess of Pants

Needless to say, when it gets cold in Florida, strange things happen!
