MindComet's 2008 Resolutions

If you search the Web, you'll find countless lists of New Year's resolutions - and they're all the same: to lose weight, stop smoking and learn something new.

If you don't know already, here at MindComet, we're a little twisted. The team was surveyed as to what their resolutions are for themselves and for MindComet for the new year and here are some of the results.

For MindComet:
  • To host Show & Tell once a month.

  • Show & Tell is an opportunity for MindComet team members to show off their work, collaborate on other applications and build upon our collective intelligence!

  • To establish two client partners from countries we've never worked in before! Caio! Hola! Hallo! Allo! Merhaba! Jambo! Salaam!

  • To expand our video and multimedia capabilities.

  • To rock out my Solution Cube Team!

  • To send more Client Love!

  • To provide employees with optimal lighting conditions to enhance productivity and creativity beyond expectations (to change the lightbulbs as soon as they burn out)!

For Ourselves:

  • To go 24 hours without making fun of Stuart!

  • To try to find my moral compass that I lost in the woods.

  • To try and keep my shirt on while singing Johnny Cash in front of fellow MindCometeers.

  • Last year I went to Walt Disney World with the family a combines 150 times. This year I want to break the 200 visit mark!

  • To give Crazy Buffet a 30 day hiatus each time they get closed down by the health inspector.

  • To get promoted to an office - there are fewer shelves to break in an office than a cubicle!

  • To turn geek!

  • To learn how to play my 10th instrument.

  • To learn how to use my pinky so I can play Guitar Hero on Hard Mode.

  • To get a real haircut and shave my back.

  • To remember to close my blinds before I dance naked to the Flashdance soundtrack!

And for the grand finale - Jeremy Hilton resolves to live solely off of pickles and coconut juice! It looks like he'll have to give up chicken feet. You heard it hear first, folks!

Stay tuned as the results continue to roll in!

Nothing Says Vegas Like...

So, I'm in Vegas this week for a database marketing conference. This morning I rode the elevator to the casino level of Mandalay Bay with a bride to be wearing a jean jacket atop her wedding dress and her bridal party adorned with Nascar jackets atop their ensembles. What a sight to see!

If only I had a chance to snap some covert pictures so I could share with you the hilarity that the other 'normal' guy in the elevator and I experienced - we were both left speechless as the elevator emptied us out into the casino.

The other awesome conference that is going on in parallel to the one I'm attending has something to do with cowboys & roping. I'm thinking I might have to go check that one out tomorrow to see what they are discussing.

I haven't hit the tables or the slot machines yet, but after my lucky streak at our holiday party on Friday - I'm thinking it might not be a bad idea to play a few hands. Anyone have a lucky number on the roulette table?

Vacations can be hazardous to your desk part ii

When our wonderful director decided to take a vacation to Argentina we knew we could not let him go unpunished. Besides nothing says job security like messing with your bosses' desk. So a few members of pod six ventured to Costco in search of what to do. What we found was a fantastic 2 for 1 deal on maxi pads and a happy stuffed puppy dog.

We quickly returned to the office and started our assault on the office. People quickly took notice and soon we found everyone chipping in in their own special way (by posing with the dog and being photographed). So what started as another pod six task turned into a glorious company wide bonding experience. The damage is shown below:

Thanks to everyone for helping out!

Inspirational Kick in the Azz

Music and creativity combine like a nice Cabernet and dark chocolate, they just go hand and hand. They are both necessary elements that spark creativity in my everyday life. Because of that, I wanted to contribute some new artists along with a necessary classic that have recently inspired me, hopefully they can do the same for you! This may change at any given second (I'm not kidding), but here is my fav top 10 playlist for the week...

1 Digitalism - "Pogo" (original and remixes)
2 Coburn - "Razorblade" (Malente Remix)
3 Shiny Toy Guns - "You are the One" (original & Adam Freeland Mixes)
4 Trentemoller - "Moan" (ummm, yah sick!)
5 Maserati - "Synchronicity IV"
6 Editors - "Racing Rats"
7 T2 - "Heartbroken" (Filthy Rich Remix)
8 Gary Numan - "Down in The Park"
9 Radio 4 - "Enemies Like This"
10 Feist - "My Moon My Man" (Boys Noize Remix)

Let me know what you think and feel free to contribute your inspirational playlist for the week as well. I will definitely be interested in checking it out. So, until next thought, enjoy the music.

A Huge HOP Forward!!!

"We get it...you HATE bunnies!"

Ok ok ok, I know you are probably sick of bunny rant after bunny rant. However, I have to share a personal life-altering event that I experienced this past Halloween. I took a step to over-come my fears!!!! I conquered being in the same room as a human dressed like a bunny and I did not hyperventilate. However, most of the time, his ears were not on, and I think that has a lot to do with it, plus there was wine involved so my nerves were on "break".

I even have proof that I was alive at the moment of the interaction...
The next day while I was reflecting, I came to the realization that I still fear bunnies and I do not see this changing ANYTIME soon...so I leave you with this...

...until next time my friends...

Tastes like...

I found these strange little gems in a China Town window while walking to the train station. As I hurriedly walked passed them, I wondered "who in the hell would find pleasure in eating chicken feet?". Despite my disgust, I just couldn't shake the thought of those golden morsels from my mind. You see, I'm a big fan of food. And as a big fan, I take pleasure in -- no, it is my duty to try new food. Damn if those chicken feet were going to be an exception.

Chicken Feet!

Chicken Feet + Jeremy + What The Hell

BTW, I highly recommend that you NOT eat chicken feet! The texture is really strange - chewy skin over a layer of even chewier fat and tendon - and they taste just like chicken feet.

IKEA - As Popular as a Theme Park

I spent the vast majority of my Saturday afternoon in the new IKEA store near Millenia Mall. Obviously shopping or browsing the new store is the 'in' thing to do in Orlando - I'm surprised the local paparazzi were not covering the action...

I was only in the store for about 5 minutes when I ran into Bryan in the couch section - we exchanged pleasantries and talked about the sensory overload we were both feeling. For those of you that have never been to IKEA, it is a Scandinavian household & furniture retailer with a 309,000-square-foot showroom.

I found out this morning that Marcelle and Art were also shopping on Saturday afternoon - I wonder who else I missed?

Their radio spots are hilarious; I'm trying to find them so you can hear them, too.

Happy Shopping!

How to Charge an iPod with an Onion & Gatorade

While "stumbling" on a lazy Sunday afternoon, I came across a slew of DIY instructional videos. The clip below blew me away... Who knew you could charge your iPod with only some Gatorade and an onion?

Ridiculous.
