Lola Goes to "The Spa"

With all that law breaking, Lola was getting worn out and just wasn't feeling like herself. By Friday afternoon, she had reached her limit! A quick zip through a parking lot, a short rest and then "it" happened. Once Lola got rolling again, one of her warning lights was glaring from behind the steering wheel. We came to a stop to find out what Lola was saying.

There was a problem with her airbags and/or rollover protection system, and it required immediate attention! Lola has never been afraid of flipping over, but she was consumed with fright thinking about the fact that if she should somehow flip over she might not be protected.

An appointment was quickly scheduled for Lola and Monday morning she made her way to spend the day at "the spa".

After relaxing during the replacement of an airbag accelerator switch, her pedicure began - A factory recall required some brake work. Then it was on to a full body scrub and a nap in the shade.

By the evening, Lola was feeling more refreshed than ever! And ready to get back in the swing of things.

Now, if she can just stay out of trouble...

MindComet Rides The Wind

The Marketing Team decided that we needed a little excitement in our lives, so we thought... "Why not jump out of a plane?"

Well, it turns out that we're all busy people, so we went for the next best thing - Indoor SkyDiving at SkyVenture Orlando.

We faced our fears, climbing into the chamber and riding on a 125MPH stream of wind. Some flyers were more graceful than others, but you'll have to find the DVD to figure out which - and I hear that it's under wraps until a few tasteful edits are made.

Collectively, 3.2 gallons of conditioner were used to remove the tangles from our hair. We learned a valuable lesson that day: TUCK YOUR HAIR IN THE HELMET!

How Merlot Can We Go?

Last night, MindComet hit the town for a wine tasting at Grapes to Glass in Winter Park, FL. We sampled a dozen or more different kinds of wine from red to white to iced to fruity - even a jalapeno flavored wine!

Some took a tour of the wine production process, while others preferred to stay closer to the sampling area.

After discovering the option to create one's own wine and custom label, there was talk about creating a MindComet blend. The WineComet project is still under development...

The Better You Challenge

Six of us decided to stop our whining and put our egos on the line by doing our own version of "The Biggest Loser" challenge. The competition is fierce and the penalties are steep. In fact, first up, we all ventured over to the closest Publix (for those not in Florida, this is similar to a Safeway or Albertsons) and PUBLICLY weigh ourselves. One team member commemorated the public humiliation on camera, which she claims was more for the "before/after effect", but I have my doubts. ;-)

Heads hung low in shock and dismay of the truth-telling enormous scale, the Better You Challenge is on! The competitive nature of the colleagues/friends involved is already in full effect, be assured. Example: this morning there were Hershey chocolate bars on our desks from one contestent with a note that read "In the spirit of competition..." Don't worry, other contestants got him back by having a box of brownies waiting on his desk upon his return from lunch.

The net/net: we have one month from today to lose 5% of our body fat (or more). And all but the winner will not be truly enjoying our monthly Recognition Friday come end of March!

Stay tuned!

Den Lille Havfrue

In 1909 the Danish brewer Carl Jacobsen attended Hans Beck's ballet The Little Mermaid. He was so thrilled by the performance that he ordered a statue erected in its honor...Copenhagen's "The Little Mermaid".

I've had a liking for mermaids for as long as I can remember, so while on a business trip to Denmark this week I knew I had to see the statue for myself. Doug and I braved the well-below freezing winds to catch a quick photo. Check back next week the see our four-country video diary!

MC Scales Building for Client Love

Two MindComet team members were caught scaling the MC Headquarters Tuesday. Between the onlookers' gasps, some say they heard plans of client love.

Once they reached the top, it became evident that one culprit was carrying a video camera. The other apparently served as the boss, as was soon made clear.

A crowd started to gather. They attempted to communicate with the boss lady, only to find her returning with strange demands.

"You want us to hold hands?"

"You want us step where?"

Their motives were a mystery, and soon they vanished with another party who was later found to have facilitated their journey.

Who were these brave and daring individuals? What could they be up to? Just how much does MindComet love their clients?

Only time will tell... stay tuned!

UPDATE: The Mystery has been solved! Click this link to see exactly what these crafty folk were up to...

Animals in Clothes...?

I just don't get it. Animals already have fur. And its not like we wait until it's cold to dress them up either (though I am sure many use this excuse on cold days - or on cool ones - and warm ones too).

Is it that deep down our carnal instincts make us want to take care of and clothe these creatures that we see as our children?

But I don't even want kids! Yet, for the first time, I found myself sucked in. I found a handsome little sweater in the pet department of my local grocery store on sale and had to pick it up!

I don't think the groceries even made it to their respective homes before my feline pal Zero (aka The Cheat) was all dressed up.

<---As you can see, he didn't appreciate it very much.

Heck, we tried to put a collar on him one time and he somehow chewed right through it. I suppose he is as much of a nudist as a furry being can be.

Eating Cheap

Lets face it- going out to lunch every day can get costly. Here at MindComet we're social creatures - we often go out in small groups to lunch, sometimes daily.

For months this was the routine for me, until one day I realized just how much money I was spending on food every month. Going out to lunch can vary between 5 and 15 dollars a day, depending on where you go, and that's just lunch!

So, for the next month, I am setting a personal goal for myself to not spend more than $10 a week on food. Yes, that's $10 a week. It's a little more than a dollar a day, but it's really possible, and if I can pull this off, I will save almost 200 dollars. In one month. Pretty good savings right?

But alas, fellow MindCometeers and Cakeplow visitors - I need your support!! For the moment I've stocked up on Ramen and hot dogs, but there must be other things to eat that are fairly inexpensive - right? If you have any recipe ideas, please share! You know where to find me - I'm in that corner cube with the stack of Ramen underneath my desk.
